The Fourth Missionary
Sister Nilsen
We are impressed with the simplicity and intensity of a talk given by Lawrence Corbridge, First Quorum of the Seventy, titled “The Fourth Missionary” and have included a short summary.“Be the Fourth Missionary, it will change your life. Your greatest creation is and ever will be you. You are responsible for who you are and who you will become. In short, when you choose to follow Christ you move forward and assimilate attributes of light; when you do not, you move backward and acquire attributes of darkness. Jesus said:‘Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’” Matthew 11:28-30

Helping Fulfill Prophesy
The Prophet Joseph Smith stated in March of 1842: "The standard of truth has been erected: no unhal-lowed hand can stop the work from progressing, persecution may rage, mobs may combine, armiesmay assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independenttill it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished and the great Jehovah shall say the work is done."
As I write the article for this month’s Harvester, I am sitting in a hotel in Guangzhou, China on a businesstrip. I have been to China several times over the last few years and have grown to love the people I workwith here. The people of China are under very strict government control, which impacts much of theirpersonal life, including what they say about their government and even dictating how many children theycan have, (usually only one child). However the people are industrious, generous, and very willing to learnand improve. They have been very kind and hospitable to me as I have worked with them over the years. On a previous visit I had the opportunity to go to church and attend a fast and testimony meeting in one ofthe small branches that have now been organized in China. It was a branch made up of persons who liveas foreigners in Guangzhou. I marveled as I listened to a Chinese man from Hong Kong bear his testi-mony about the restoration of the gospel, and then a woman from Ecuador stand and bear her testimonyabout the Prophet Joseph Smith, a man of African descent stand and bear witness of the Book of Mormon, followed by a woman from the Philippines who testified of Christ. I thought of the quote by Joseph Smithand was overcome with emotion by witnessing, first hand, the continuing fulfillment of his prophesy aboutmissionary work.
There are now several Chinese Branches in China. The government here is slowly, butwith a watchful eye, allowing the Chinese people the right to worship as they please. One by one thesegood people are being converted to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. One by one.And so we go forward also in the Columbus Ohio Mission to meet with people one by one in not so faraway places like Maysville, Lawrenceburg, and Coshocton; meeting with people one by one to spread thegood news of the restoration of Christ’s church. We are also helping fulfill the prophecy as we endeavor tohave the Gospel “sound in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished and the great Jeho-vah shall say the work is done." May God bless us all in that prophetic fulfillment! President George Rahlf
SPANISH MESSAGE
THE REDNECK CLEANUP1.….Sister and Elder Wursten
Have you ever invited someone over to your apartment for dinner, or a visit, or to study? We usually try to clean and tidy up. Do you ever invite the Holy Spirit to your cluttered, moldy, dirty apartment and He never shows up? You could be waiting for a long time, or if things don’t change, He may never come. We’ve all heard the jokes about “You know you’re a red-neck if………” On a recent trip to give apartment inspections,we found some really interesting things. We have decided to revise the jokes, if you can call it that. We will call them,“You know you need to clean your apartment IF……….
1.”The “charcoal briquettes” in your oven ignite when you turn it on.
2.…OOOHHH! Don’t touch that rough, grey stuff on the side of the sink.”Where do you think the scum from the soap dish is going?
3. Last week’s Captain Crunch is still on the carpet in your study area. That’swhat vacuums are for.
4.Your bed is in the living room. Beds go in the bedroom.
5.Your bed/mattress in the living room is on the floor. That’s what the metalsticks (bed frames) leaning against the wall are for.
6.The black stuff on the toilet and bathtub is growing by the day. Spray someCLOROX CLEANUP on it.
7. Five bags of garbage are lined up neatly along the wall. How many do you have to accumulate before you make a trip to the BIG garbage bin?
8. You can’t put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher because the dishwasher isfull of “clean” dishes.
9. Your stiff shower curtain reeks. They do wash well and love a bath withwarm, sudsy, Clorox.
10. The bathroom door is missing because BAD things happen behind closed doors.
11. This is my favorite. You know you need to clean your apartment IF your sink and counter top is full of dirty dishes and you say, “We are just in between fixing breakfast and lunch.”It does take some effort on everyone’s part to get and keep your apartment clean. Please invite the Spirit of the Holy Ghost into your apartment by cleaning it—TODAY!! If you would like some help or suggestions, PLEASE let us know. We are more than happy to help.
And The Clean Apartment Award goes to…..drum roll please:Elder Roach and Elder Crawford in Miami River Spanish 1. It was awesome!!!With Much Love,Elder & Sister Wursten
“The most amazing thing about the oyster is this, irritations get into his shell. He does not like them. But when hecannot get rid of them, he uses the irritation to do the loveliest things an oyster ever has a chance to do. If there are irritations in our lives today, there is only one prescription”: MAKE A PEARL!!!!——

Sister Nilsen's Kitchen!
Foil Dinner in a Skillet
1/2 lb or more hamburger
2 cans potatoes
1 can corn
1/2 onion
Slice up the onion and cook on medium heat with a little oil until brown.
Add the hamburger and cook, stirring as you go so that it crumbles.
Drain corn and potatoes and add, cook until heated through.
Salt and pepper to taste, (that means until you like it)
You can always slice up raw potatoes but they will take longer to cook than the canned ones.Fresh corn, sliced off the cob is yummier, also, red or green peppers added when you cook the onion is good, too.We always add garlic salt and Worcestershire, it's almost a family rule.No foil needed and even Jack can make this one, so no excuses!
Easy Mexican Chicken
6 boneless chicken breasts
1 jar of salsa1
packet taco mix spices
Put chicken in a crock pot*Mix salsa and taco seasoning and pour over chicken. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.Serve over rice or pasta, or put on bread for sandwiches. This lasts a long time and is very versatile, you can put it on toast for breakfast or put it over scrambled eggs like an omelet.
*If you don't have a crock pot (or slow cooker as some people call it) ask your Relief Society to announce that you are looking for one or watch for yard sales. They are awesome, you put the food in before you leave for the day and when you come home it is ready and waiting. You could also put it in at night and it is ready for breakfast or lunch!
Pasta Salad
1 box of pasta (bow tie or elbow, etc.)
Veggies – for example:3 carrots1 bunch green onions (the long skinny ones)1 green or red pepper1 or 2 tomatoes
Or any other veggies you prefer to substitute
½ cup Ranch dressing
Cook the pasta according to directions on box, don’t overcook!
Dice (cut up) all the veggies while you are cooking the pasta.
Drain pasta and add veggies.
Add ranch dressing, more than ½ cup if desired.
Mix, add salt and pepper to taste (that means until it is how you like it.)
You may add cooked chicken to this for a full meal. It’s great and can be eaten cold or hot. The ranch is more flavorful if you add it when the pasta is cool.

Two years is a long time, but a short amount of time to make somany life long friends. I would like to thank my past compan-ions and everyone that chose to come out here and to serve withme in this great work. I have learned so much from you. I willtruly miss you all. Remember to live each moment for your Sav-ior, that is how we find true happiness like our Savior knows be-cause He lived each moment for us. Making the right choice isnever easy in the moment it is given to us to decide, but it is theeasier way, and the happier way, to live in the end. Wickednessnever will be happiness. I have a testimony that my Savior JesusChrist truly lived. He died for each one of us, but more impor-tantly, He lived for each one of us so that we may live again in thekingdom of our Father In Heaven. Our Savior knows us perfectlyand is ready to help us in our time of struggle. My Savior wasthere for me in my hardest days and my happiest days of my 2years I served Him. I am so grateful for the testimony of the re-stored gospel in my life. It has brought my life direction, comfort, eternal life, and eternal families. Go share that great message thatGod The Father and His Son visited a boy to call a Prophet to theearth again to restore the keys of the priesthood so that salvationcan once again be obtained with EVERYONE you meet! and do itdiligently! I love you Elders and Sister, God be with you until we meet again.
Elder Nicholas Anderson
PS: I love you Elder Francom, keep working hard!
I have loved my time serving out in the Great Ohio ColumbusMission. I love these people. They mean the world to me and totheir Father in Heaven. That is why we are here to find and savethem. "Keep moving forward" (Meet The Robinson's). There arepeople out there waiting for you. We never know who we havepromised to share this with and to give this to. Work hard. Neverlook back. "No sacrifice no victory" (Transformers). Give it yourall.I know that this work is true that Joseph Smith was a Prophet called to restore Christ's true Church again to the earth. I know theBook of Mormon is the evidence of this work and it is true. Iknow that President Monson is our Prophet today and that he iscalled of God. This is the best thing that we could ever do. Treas-ure every moment you have and "May the Force (Spirit) be withyou" (Star Wars).
Sister Stephanie LaNae Gibson
“Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying thefoundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeththat which is great.” (D&C 64:33) Our missions are great be-cause we make them great. As we serve the Lord with all our “…heart, might, mind and strength…” (D&C 4:2) we become re-fined. I declare that we truly have a loving Father in Heaven.Jesus is the Christ. The Gospel has been restored in its fullness. The Book of Mormon is a further witness. Joseph Smith is a Prophet. This is Christ’s church once again upon the earth. Eachof us can know of these truths by the power of the Holy Ghost. Iam so grateful for the privilege I have had to serve here in the Great Ohio. Of these things I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Sister Sharon Kluzek
Elders and Sisters, the gospel is true! Isn't it wonderful? What aprivilege is has been for us to teach and study these wonderfuldoctrines and truths for the past 18 months. We are remindedevery day that Heavenly Father loves us with an infinite and ten-der love. He sent Jesus Christ not only to redeem us, but to show us the Father. Every single thing the Savior did and said was anillustration of that love. This mission has strengthened my testi-mony and deepened my gratitude and love in a hundredways. This gospel makes me happy every day of my life. I tes-tify it is God's great plan for our happiness, in the name of HisSon, Jesus Christ, Amen.
Sister Barbara Spangler
Elders & Sisters, I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, hisonly begotten Son. I know they love me and want me to returnto their presence as a righteous son and brother. It is incumbent on me to live righteously and earn the privilege to return. Thepast eighteen months have been a wonderful spiritual experience. This mission has opened my eyes to the scriptures and the princi-ples and doctrines of the gospel. I have enjoyed my associationwith all the students and missionaries. I say this in the name ofJesus Christ. Amen.
Elder Kenneth Spangler
Behold my beloved Brethren and Sisters elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father through sanctification of thespirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ,Grace be unto you and peace be multiplied. I speak unto you as one who is about to give up the Ghost, or rather the tag. I havesuffered much pain, waited through sorrow, and endured muchopposition. Never the less my joy is full for I have suffered thesethings baring the name of Christ upon my chest. For I have trulyfelt Him round about me in this work. Because of that I know Helives, and will continually be round about you if you allow Him.Testify of the Restoration often for as you do, you will onlybuild yours and others testimony of Christ, the Only Begotten ofthe Father. I know these things to be true of myself a part fromany source except of the Spirit of God. In the Holy name of ourSavior, even Jesus Christ. Amen.
Elder Joshua Holgreen
While our testimonies are individual, we can say with a certaintythat together we know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth. Duringour mission we came across so many less-actives that thought onechurch was like another. They couldn’t see the benefit in traveling10-20 miles to attend when there was a church a few blocks away!Fortunately, some came around. We know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God and wasHis instrument in bringing forth the Book of Mormon and restor-ing the Gospel. We have studied the Book of Mormon during our time here andwe know it to be true and inspired. We are grateful for the addedlight and knowledge it brings to the Christian community. Fur-ther, we have studied most of the Doctrine and Covenants andtruly appreciate the light it sheds on the other scriptures. We are truly grateful for those less-actives and non-members whohave responded positively to our invitation to return and/or inves-tigate the Gospel! Seeing them in our meetings is way morecompensation than we ever imagined. As we leave Jackson, OH and return to Kaysville, UT, we gowith added spirituality and knowledge. Having left our comfortzone, we will never be quite the same. We wish all of you fellowmissionaries good finding, teaching and reactivating!

New Missionaries, The Walbecks!
We are grateful for a new Senior Couple, Brother and Sister Walbeck, that arrived in the Great Ohio September 13, 2012 after a whirlwindtrip. After they received their call, they only had six working days be-fore they were to report to the MTC. However, that proved to be a ten-der mercy of the Lord as they had the opportunity to be there with their grandson, Elder Reggie Walbeck prior to his departure to the Lubbock,Texas Mission.
Brother and Sister Walbeck are from Draper, Utah. They have been married 51 years and have five children and six grandchildren. Elder Walbeck graduated from the University of Utah in 1964 and served fouryears in the US Army. Sister Walbeck worked and supported ElderWalbeck through this period of time. After leaving the Army, they re-turned to Salt Lake City and began to raise their family. Elder Walbeck spent 43 years in the financial ser-vices profession, the last 20 years operating his own financial planning practice . Their plan has always been to serve a full time mission and upon Elder Walbeck’s retirement they began toarrange affairs in order to accomplish this goal. Elder and sister Walbeck also served together 6 and ½ years in the Salt Lake Inner City Mission. Their assignment was to work with inactive members, at a “Halfway House” for inmates transitioning to productive, civilian lives.
Sister Walbeck was active in community, school, and church service and has served in many Stake and Ward callings, including YW President three different occasions. She likes to camp, especially at Girls’camp, and enjoys reading. She loves serving others and being with her children and grandchildren.

Flu is coming for you!
Flu season is approaching and we want you to stay healthy and happy. The flu (Influenza) is more severe than the common cold and you can identify it by it's sudden onset; within an hour you will feel extreme fatigue and fever. It usually does not cause vomiting or diarrhea in adults. There is an good way to possibly avoid the flu - get a flu shot! The cost can be as low as $15 if you check around. You may first want to write home and see if your family will send you the money or if your insurance covers flu shots as some policies will. Stay healthy, Ohio!Sister Nilsen
