The Journey

In the great Ohio, Columbus Mission, we have approximately 175 missionaries at any given time. Of that we have 20 Spanish speaking missionaries and 20 Sisters. We currently have five couples serving in many capacities and positions. We love our couples!

Most of our missionaries have cars and a couple actually have a truck in Northern Kentucky, you know, just to fit in. :) Additionally, about 10 sets of Elders have the opportunity to ride bikes and most love and prefer it, that is unless we have a July hot streak with temperatures over 100 for about 16 straight days. We did interviews with Elders who came in from their bikes and were dripping sweat, not just at the start but clear throught the interview! They are good about hydrating and most are pretty good about bike safety. I know of one Elder, in another mission, who was riding his bike with his hands in his pockets, that was an excellent way to get all of his front teeth replaced! The biking is great until the winter hits and the Elders are attacked in ice storms. I haven't yet experienced this phenomenon and don't look forward to it, I have been told they are unbelieveable. We shall see.

We are extremely blessed to have a Temple in our mission and the highlight for many missionaries is to attend the ordinances with a member they have taught and baptized. They are allowed to attend quarterly and we also take the departing missionaries to the Temple which we did just yesterday. It is awesome and inspiring every time!

Thank you for teaching and sending your family members our way. We are so grateful for their efforts. As one Elder said yesterday in his departing testimony to the Mission, "On my mission I have seen angels, some of them have been you, some have been the members and some have been from the other side. Thank you."
